Inventions

Inventions are everywhere. Someone had to think of the stuff that we use nowadays. Now that I think about it though, inventors don't get the same recognition as they did back in the day (Thomas Eddison, Ben Franklin, etc). Of course there are those breakthrough inventions that create corporate juggernauts such as Bill Gates and others. But I can't help to think that some inventors aren't getting the props they deserve. For example, some scientist at Cal successfully created an invisibility cloak that can actually make certain things become invisible. How many of you guys knew this? I mean, come on! An invisibility cloak?? How come he's not super famous by now? That's straight up scifi fantasy harry potter stuff come true.

One morning I had a dream of an invention that would have made me rich (I guess this could tie in with my previous blog). Here was my idea. At a time long long ago, before everyone and their mothers (literally) had an iPod, there were people with CD players and Walkmen. Now, unfortunately we were not all lucky enough to own one for ourselves, or simply did not carry it around everywhere. However we satisfied our need for music by buying those earphones so that we could sit next to each other and have one bud in our ear while our free-loading friend was right by our side listening to the other side. My invention would plug into the earphone jack to your audio player and provide TWO earphone jacks. That way you could both plug in your OWN headphones/earphones and not have to look like complete douches. You'd probably still look like a tool, but it would be less of one than before. To my dismay, I went to Target later that day after my vision of this invention and saw it there in the electronics section. It was $10.99. So much for that idea. Moral of the story? Inventors should get their props. It's hard to come up with ideas that some people haven't thought of already! (I've claimed the ziplining idea still, so if I ever see it happen.. I thought of it first. Let that be known)

To finish this off, I'd like to point something out that I noticed. The other day as I was watching some random shows on hulu.com, I came across those annoying commercials they play before your shows. This one was for Intel, and it talked about the inventor of the USB (which is genius. floppy disks? That's so Windows 95!) Then, as I continued to watch more tv the next day, I saw a commercial for the Wendy's frosty's, which are delicious, along with their chicken nuggets, but that is besides the point. In their commercial they are rapping about the frosties and how good they are but then... I noticed something very peculiar. No, this guy is not a one trick pony. Inventor by day.. Wendy's Frosty rapper by night!

Same guy? Perhaps... The world will never know. Haha

  1. Hahaha. Wow you sound like you have a lot of time on your hands to notice the USB/Frosty Rapper thing. That Indian man was probably an actor. But your idea with the zip lines? Pretty ingenius. You should get that started before someone with a lot more money jacks your idea.
